Our Story

Cedar Field Farm was founded by Thomas Lodge in 2019.

Simon and Caitlin connected with Thomas by way of MIFarmLink and are very excited to be operating CFF for the 2024 season!  It is our goal to grow healthy food and make it more accessible to our community.

CFF is previously certified organic and we will continue these practices - never spraying harmful pesticides/herbicides/fungicides.  Regenerative practices are also a priority for us, building upon and retain soil health.

Simon is the work horse of the operation - bringing 8 years of farming experience with enthusiasm and passion to grow food with intention.

Caitlin is the the marketing brain and farm help. When she's not on the farm, you'll find her making sure products get to customers and they know how to use/store them.  It's her goal to get customers to feel excited and confident about eating locally and seasonally!

Thomas Lodge returned to the Midwest to find some rural land unpolluted from decades of conventional farming.

Cedar Field had not been farmed in over 50 years and was surrounded by maple woods, thriving with diverse plant and animal life.

With the help of friends and family, Thomas broke fresh ground in 2019, using only shovels and walk-behind rototillers. That spring was a refresher course in Midwest humidity and mosquitoes.

Thomas remains an active partner in CFF, providing his knowledge and elbow grease to help continue its success.
